About me.

I am a practising artist based in Yorkshire, working with traditional materials such as oil paint, pastel, watercolour and ink.

I studied Fine Art at Sheffield College of Art, benefiting from the disciplines of drawing and painting which in turn, enrich the processes of looking and finding.

I have lectured in Fine Art and Art History for many years, my knowledge base runs deep and wide. I communicate readily and passionately in both disciplines, I feel fortunate to have a comprehensive understanding of a wide variety of artists’ work, both past and present.

In essence, my work is a response to places or objects that allow or inspire a conversation between subject and artist. Working processes allow for reflection and the means to unify many disparate elements. These tensions can be material or emotional responses which can in turn create dynamic and exciting departures.
